In the Beginning was GOLD

The name “Bremer Goldschlägerei” is still a reminder of the origins of the company founded in 1890 by Wilhelm Herbst. The revolutionary idea of using special filling gold produced using the rotation method for dental restoration instead of beaten gold fillings made dentist  Dr. h.c. Wilhelm Herbst famous and earned him an honorary doctorate.
From these beginnings developed a company which proved extremely successful within the dental industry.

Today, tradition and pioneering spirit are still both an incentive and an obligation for BEGO’s management and employees.

The BEGO TRAINING CENTER and academia • dental

The BEGO TRAINING CENTER and academia • dental are situated in the BEGO company building in “Wilhelm-Herbst-Straße”, named after the company founder. Wilhelm Herbst was, even from an international perspective, one of the outstanding dental specialists of his time. Dental technology had a great significance for him – also documented with the early establishment of his own large dental laboratory in Bremen.

It had always been important for him to pass on his knowledge to a national but also international audience. Following this tradition, BEGO founded its own TRAINING CENTER in 1976 where courses of some days duration are given for dental technicians until today. It has continuously renewed and widened its program since then.

In 2002, the academia • dental was established as the first and so far unique international school for dental technicians from all over the world that offers courses on a level similar to standard and training of German Master Schools.
