International group in Aug. 2007

Also in the year 2007 the international group of participants shows a large vested interest in high-quality dental technique. Thus, dental technicians from 7 different nations, including 6 participants from Russia alone, came to Bremen in August for further education. The longest journey was undertaken by the participants from Indonesia and Malaysia. They were not the first to find their way from Indonesia and Malaysia to Bremen. Dental technicians from both countries already participated in previous courses.

Most course participants at academia • dental call private laboratories their own or have a leading position with high responsibilities. For many participants it is their first time in Germany or in Europe, respectively. They all have one common goal: to manufacture dental technique at a high level and to provide optimal supply to their patients. Therefore, they accept a possibly long journey to Bremen and a four-week separation from their families and their laboratories. Most academia • dental participants again found an accommodation at the Seaman’s Home. The Bremer Seaman’s Home provides an ideal environment for a longer stay in Bremen. Quickly the participants perceived the advantages of this accommodation. For example, they can enjoy the evenings cooking together, teaming up in small discussion groups, or jointly discovering the city.

At his welcome speech Joachim Weiss reflected on the history of BEGO and the company’s founder Wilhelm Herbst. He demonstrated that BEGO has had close ties to dental technique for over 100 years and its many innovations repetitively raised attention. Already over 100 years ago Wilhelm Herbst believed in the concept of passing on the knowledge about new technologies to colleagues and friends. In this spirit the academia • dental continuously pursues what has begun over 100 years ago under the leadership of Wilhelm Herbst.
