With their participation in the four-week intensive course Aesthetic Solutions on Implants, Barbara Šušmelj and Roman Putz became the first graduates of academia • dental who completed the whole education programme of academia • dental. They are both dental technicians who carry out their profession with great enthusiasm and dedication. The advanced training at academia • dental in Bremen is a great challenge for every dental technician, not only in terms of dental technical skills. Far away from family, it demands the readiness to open up to something new.
Barbara Šušmelj owns a small high-standard dental laboratory in Radovljica, Slovenia, that focuses on aesthetical dental prostheses. The modularly organised advanced training of academia • dental gave her an opportunity which cannot be provided in her home country. While the first education module treated combination and milling techniques, i.e. “removable denture”, this year’s course comprised the subject “fixed denture”.
The education at academia • dental focuses on practical work. Theoretical skills are primarily provided where required to learn more about materials and techniques. Many tips and tricks for practical implementation complete the theoretical part. Two tailored course modules of four-week duration each compliment each other. They provide comprehensive dental technical skills in a compact form at a high level in a relatively short period of time. The experienced, charismatic course instructors create the precondition for a maximal learning effect. The dental technical works designed during the course are complex and demanding. After each course module the practical work is evaluated by the director of academia • dental.
The course participant and dental technician Roman Putz is from Lemberg, Ukraine, where he owns a very well-equipped dental technical laboratory. Over several years he continuously extended his dental technical skills in Bremen. As a preparation for the courses at academia • dental Roman Putz regularly attended special courses at BEGO Training Center over the last decade. Parallel to his participation in the courses at academia • dental, he expanded his offers for his customers at his laboratory by new technologies obtained in Bremen. His area of specialisation is the telescope technique. He creates large telescope rehabilitations with a high precision. His participation in the intensive course on Aesthetic Solutions on Implants will facilitate his future engagement in implant prosthodontics.
Today, by extending its concept to implant prosthodontics, academia • dental has become a trendsetter. In the few years of its existence, academia • dental obtained a high international reputation. The courses are predominantly offered in English and Russian language. This year, for the first time, a course has been held in Czech language at academia • dental. Up to now, dental technicians from 35 different nations obtained an advanced education at academia • dental.
